31-year-old Roderick Wayne Miller of Ashe Street in Mooresville was arrested by Iredell Co. Sheriff’s Officers on two counts as a sex offender unlawfully on premises.
On September 19, the Sheriff’s Office received information from Probation & Parole Officers that a registered sex offender’s ankle monitor had been pinged on school property. Deputy John Adams launched an investigation.
Deputy Adams reviewed the information and determined that Roderick Miller had been on two different school properties in the Mooresville area. After further investigation and after speaking to witnesses, Deputy Adams was able to confirm the information.
Miller was arrested on September 20. He was placed in the Iredell County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on October 10. Miller also faces a felony marijuana charge with a court date on November 13.
Miller was placed on the Sex Offender Registry for a 2006 Iredell County conviction on two counts of indecent liberties with a child. He was listed as an aggravated or recidivist offender following a 2010 conviction for attempted second-degree rape in Mecklenburg County.
He has a number of previous convictions on marijuana and cocaine charges, among others.
