35-year-old Ryan Kirby and 33-year-old Tiffany Diane Huffman, both of Lenoir, were arrested Friday (September 8) by Alexander County Sheriff's Officers. Kirby is charged with felony larceny, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, resist, obstruct, delay, and possession of burglary tools. Huffman is charged with felony larceny and possession of burglary tools.
On Friday at approximately 4:15 a.m., Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman reportedly found two subjects in the process of stealing a four wheeler from a residence on Friendship Ridge Road. According to a news release, the man and woman were in the process of loading a four wheel ATV into the bed of a small truck. Sheriff Bowman made initial contact with the suspects and ordered them to stop. The male suspect refused to obey orders given by Sheriff Bowman.
A struggle occurred, during which Sheriff Bowman’s weapon was placed in his vehicle, to keep it out of the suspect’s reach. The suspect attempted to seize the Sheriff’s weapon, but was unsuccessful and was restrained by Sheriff Bowman. Off Duty Captain Douglas Bowman of the Taylorsville Police Department arrived on the scene to help take the male suspect into custody. Officers from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police Department arrived on the scene to take the suspects into custody.
Both suspects were detained in the Alexander County Detention Center. Kirby was jailed under an $85,000 secured bond, Huffman's bond was set at $60,000 secured. They were both scheduled to make first appearances in District Court Monday (September 11).
