29-year-old Brandon Jarrell Martin of Charlotte and 23-year-old Jamahl Tobias Jones of Chesapeake, Virginia, were arrested by Iredell County Sheriff's Officers. Martin is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
On Sunday, members of the Iredell County Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team (ACE) were working in the area of West Memorial Highway in Union Grove when an Officer came into contact with several subjects in a passenger van. While speaking with the individuals, the Officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from their vehicle. After further investigation, the vehicle was searched.
While searching the vehicle, Deputies located two handguns, marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia. A computer check later revealed that one of the handguns were stolen from Salisbury. The driver, 34-year-old Karlton Sha Caldwell of Charlotte was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, 28-year-old Mishon Lumpkin and 36-year-old Jason Callender, both of Charlotte, were each charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Martin's bond was set at $8,000 secured, Jones' bond was set at $1,500 secured. Martin has a District Court date October 2. Jones will appear in District Court November 2.
