Two More Suspects Charged In Case Involving Murder Of Man Found In Burning Home

A Father and Son have now been charged in connection to the death of Harry Lewis Bruner Jr. His body was found with a gunshot wound in a burning home on South U.S. 321 in Newton Saturday morning (August 5). 38-year-old Nicholas Francis Smith of Lineberger Road in Conover and 17-year-old Nolan Andre Smith of West Herman Street in Newton have each been charged with accessory after the fact. WHKY's Fentress Chestnut learned that the two are accused of hiding evidence and the murder weapon.  

Wednesday morning (August 9) 16-year-old Lennon Riley Henderson of South Cline Avenue in Newton appeared before a judge in Catawba County District Court, he faces a charge of murder. WHKY learned that he and the victim were cousins, and that Henderson had lived with Bruner for several months before this incident happened. Search warrants showed there was a possible break-in and firefighters also found flammable liquid in a container near the kitchen stove.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set to hide evidence, all three suspects remained in the Catawba County Detention Facility as of this morning (August 11) as the investigation continues.
