Hickory Woman Accused of Pawning Stolen Chainsaw

50-year-old Kelly Jean Berry of Old Shelby Road in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police early this morning (May 19) on two felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

She was arrested in connection to an incident that was reported on April 6 of this year.  The victim told Police that a male suspect, Harold Edward Berry, failed to return a chainsaw.  Officers learned that Kelly Jean Berry pawned the chainsaw on March 29.  Warrants were issued for both suspects.  Kelly Berry was initially arrested on May 1.  Warrants for Harold Berry are still outstanding.

Kelly Berry was taken into custody without incident shortly after 3 a.m. today on 13th Avenue Drive S.E., a few blocks off of Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard.  She was placed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility with bond set at $1,000, secured.  An appearance in District Court was set for today in Newton.
