Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an incident in which as many as 30 rounds may have been fired in a residential neighborhood.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 4900 block of Amity Lane in Iron Station at around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday (March 18). When officers arrived the homeowner told them that a silver car had pulled into the driveway occupied by three people. An argument that had started the previous night continued and one of the individuals in the vehicle fired a shot in the direction of the homeowner.
The shooter continued to fire shots as they sped away and the homeowner told officers that he unloaded shots from two pistols at the vehicle. Detectives sent an advisory out regarding the suspect's vehicle and to area hospitals in case anyone showed up with a gunshot wound. No one at the residence was injured. It is not known how many shots struck the vehicle.
The investigation into the incident is continuing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202 or Lincolnton/Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.
