21-year-old Destiny Dawn Bentley of East Berkley Street in Granite Falls and 23-year-old Joseph Lee Eaker of Carriage Lane in Hudson have both been arrested in Caldwell County in connection to a February 5 armed robbery and carjacking in Lincoln County.
Bentley turned herself in at the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office yesterday (February 15). Eaker was arrested by Lenoir Police today. Both suspects were charged with one felony count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The two suspects and one other man are accused of robbing a male victim from Lincolnton at Lincolnton Optimist Park, off of Startown Road. The victim was robbed at gunpoint. His wallet (containing credit cards, identification and cash) and his 2003 Mazda 6 were taken.
Deputies say the victim had been talking to Bentley on Facebook and they agreed to meet near the park. Bentley arrived in an older model blue car and got into the victim’s car. While the two were talking, they were interrupted by two white males knocking on the window. The men pulled the victim out of his car. One of the men was armed with a handgun and the other had a knife. They left with the victim’s wallet and his vehicle. The vehicle has not been found.
Detectives are continuing to interview Bentley and Eaker, who are being held in the Caldwell County Jail without bond due to a probation violation. Officers have not identified the third suspect. No court dates are currently listed.
