The Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center were presented safety awards at a recent banquet in Lincolnton co-hosted by the North Carolina Department of Labor and the Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce at the Lincoln Cultural Center on March 27.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a Silver Award based on days away from work because of an injury. Lt. Jordan Cody accepted the award for the Sheriff’s Office

The Harven A. Crouse Detention Center received a Gold Award from the Department of Labor. The Gold Award is based not only on days away from work because of an injury, but is also based on restricted activity or job transfers. Jail Administrator Lt. Alan Houser accepted the award for the Detention Center.

To qualify for the annual safety award the law enforcement agency must:

  • have had no fatalities during the calendar year at the site or location for which the award is given; and
  • have maintained an incidence rate at least 50 percent below the average for its particular industry group.

The North Carolina Department of Labor’s Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain good safety records.
