The Lenoir-Rhyne women's soccer team won the South Atlantic Conference regular season title after defeating Coker 3-1 at home Wednesday night.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Allie Zueger scored her fourth goal of the season. She was assisted by Hannah Van Eerden, her fifth assist on the season.
The Bears tacked on two more goals in the second half. Aqsa Mushtaq scored both goals, with her goal in the 48th minute assisted by Christina Shimshock, and her second goal assisted by Neve Duston. The two goals give Mushtaq 12 on the season, second most in the South Atlantic Conference.
As a team, the Bears outshot the Cobras 44-2 with the Bears getting 15 shots on goal to the Cobras only getting one shot on goal.
The Bears are 14-2 on the season, 8-2 in the South Atlantic Conference. L-R will be the top seed for the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The Bears will host a quarterfinal round match on Saturday at 7pm taking on Newberry. Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Newberry 5-0 on October 12th at home. The semifinals and finals of the conference tournament will be held Friday, November 15 and Sunday, November 17th at the Sportsplex at Matthews, in Matthews NC
