The Appalachian State women's golf team teed off its 2019 fall season this week at the Judaculla Cup, hosted by Western Carolina.
Led by junior Abby Bolt, who finished in a tie for first place individually, the Mountaineers finished runner-up to the host Catamounts by two strokes in the team standings, 596 to 598.
At the end of the tourney's two rounds, Bolt found herself in a three-way tie atop the leaderboard with Western Carolina's Bailee Twiford and Madison Isaacson. The trio played a one-hole playoff on the par-5, 430-yard No. 18, where Bolt and Twiford both shot par, and Isaacson took medalist honors by sinking a 4-foot birdie putt.
App State shot 295 as a team in the first round, followed by a 303 in the second. Behind Bolt (70-74-144, E) in the individual standings were Mogie Adamchik (74-77-151, +7) in sixth place and Sarah Hardin (77-75-152, +8) and Hannah Wang 74-78-152, +8) in a tie for seventh.
The Mountaineers' next competition is Saturday at the one-day USC Upstate Carolina in Spartanburg, S.C.
