Appalachian State Volleyball Adds Luscher to Roster

Appalachian State head volleyball coach Matt Ginipro has announced the addition of setter Sammy Luscher (Wilmington, N.C./Ashley) to the program for the 2019 season.

"We are fortunate to add someone of Sammy's talent and character right before the start of preseason," said Ginipro. "When she came to visit last month, we immediately knew she was going to be a great fit for our program."

Luscher spent last season at UNC Asheville.

She won three letters at Ashley High School and was named Team MVP twice. She was also tabbed as team captain for the Screaming Eagles three times and was a two-time all-conference selection.

Luscher also saw success on her club team, leading them to two state championships.

"Sammy is a great setter and, more importantly, a great person," added Ginipro. "We are excited she has joined the program and can't wait to get the 2019 season underway."

The Mountaineers will open their season on Aug. 30 at the Cactus Classic, hosted by Arizona. App State will take on the host Wildcats at noon and Samford at 6:30 p.m.
