The Hickory Crawdads scored two runs in the third inning, and it would be all they needed in a 2-1 win at Greensboro Tuesday evening.

With the scored tied at zero in the top of the third inning, the Crawdads started the inning with a Miguel Aparicio walk. Jonathan Ornelas would follow with a line drive single to left field, advancing Aparicio to second. A passed ball advanced the runners to second and third and Kole Enright loaded the bases with a walk. Curtis Terry flies into a double play with a catch in right field that then got Aparicio out at home as he tried to tag up. Ornelas would move to third. and Enright got to second. Sherten Apostel would then single on a ground ball to center field, scoring Ornelas and Enright.

The Crawdads pitching staff was fantastic, allowing only one run and five hits on the night. Tyree Thompson took the win with 5.2 innings pitched, allowing two hits and one run while striking out three. Grant Wolfram would pitch 1.1 innings, allowing only two hits and striking out two. Jesus Linarez pitched the eighth inning, allowing only one hit and striking out one. Kel Gonzalez finished the game with a perfect ninth, stiking out one.

Hickory improves to 39-23 on the first half of the season. They wrap up the series against Greensboro tonight before heading to Delmarva to face the Shorebirds this weekend to finish off the first half of the season.
