The Catawba Valley Community College softball has announced the addition of two more softball players to its first-ever recruiting class.
Joining the Red Hawks starting this fall will be T.C. Roberson’s Hayley Morrow and Owen’s Destiny Karber.
Morrow, who plays second base and shortstop, finished her four-year career at T.C. Roberson with 72 hits in 75 games, including 13 doubles. She drove in 24 RBI, scored 65 runs and tallied a .338 batting average.
As a senior, Morrow was part of a Rams squad that went 19-3 overall, including 14-2 in Western Mountain 3A conference play.
“Hayley is a player we are thrilled to be signing here at CVCC,” said Red Hawks head softball coach Josh Bumgarner. “She is tough, fast and never quits. Her bat and glove will both be big assets to our program.”
An outfielder, Karber was part of a Warlassies program that won 46 games during her four seasons on the team, including 34 victories in conference play.
“We are excited to be adding Destiny to our team,” Bumgarner said. “She is a hard worker with a team first mentality and a smart outfielder that does little things right that often go unnoticed.”
Karber and Morrow join a CVCC softball program that officially starts this fall and will be immediately eligible for championship contention in the spring of 2020.
