The South Atlantic Conference announced All-Conference Teams as well as individual award winners on Friday morning and the Bears earned a pair of accolades. The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team placed two on the Honorable Mention Team in senior Brad Robinson and freshman Matthew Raybould while Raybould was named the SAC's Freshman of the Year.
Raybould, a freshman from Bridlington, Yorkshire, U.K., started in every event for the Bears in his first year and is ranked No. 144 across the nation by Golfstat, with an adjusting scoring average of 73.83. He led the Bears’ effort in three tournaments: Newberry Invitational, Battle at Hilton Head, and the Bearcat Golf Classic. At the Donald Ross Invitational, Raybould shined. He finished seven-under par, tied for fourth, while shooting a season-low round of 66.
Robinson, a native of Newcastle, ENGLAND, has been the Bears leader since walking on campus in Hickory, and rounds out a decorated career with four top-10 finishes and an individual title in the Donald Ross Intercollegiate this past fall. Robinson shot a 69-67-67 at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate.
Robinson and Raybould now prepare to lead the Bears in pursuit of a SAC Championship trophy, April 14 through April 16, in Camden, S.C.
