The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team traveled to Wingate to take on the Bulldogs in a midweek South Atlantic Conference battle and held the 25-23 lead at the half, but fell 59-43 Wednesday night when it was all said and done.
Eight different players for Lenoir-Rhyne were able to score, but only Madi Suddreth reached double figures, putting up 10 points, six rebounds, three steals and a couple assists to fill the stat sheet.
Getting to the line was a difference in the game. While the Bears were an impressive and perfect 11-for-11 there, the Bulldogs got to the charity stripe more often and converted on 17-of-23.
Another key to the game was the third quarter, one that Wingate dominated, 25-6.
The Bears dropped to 4-2 on the road and lost three-straight for the first time this season.
The Lenoir-Rhyne defense has remained a stingy one from the start, and held the Bulldogs to under 60. That is their seventh game to hold their opponent to fewer than the 60-points in a game.
The Bears are 7-7 overall and 2-4 in the SAC. L-R returns home for another SAC contest on Saturday, January 12 at 2 p.m. against the Mars Hill Lions inside the friendly confines of Shuford Gymnasium.
