Lenoir-Rhyne football offensive lineman Ronnie Clifton, a redshirt junior, has been named Google Cloud Second Team Academic All-American by CoSIDA as announced by the organization. Clifton is the lone representative from the South Atlantic Conference to be named an Academic All-American.

"Ronnie is certainly deserving of this honor," said Head Coach Drew Cronic. "Not only is he an outstanding student and football player, he's an even better young man. He is one of the best kids in the program and does everything that is asked of him. We are very proud of how he represents our program and University."

Clifton played and started in all 14 games at left tackle for the Bears. On the field, Clifton helped anchor an offensive line that produced 268.1 rushing yards per game which ranked 11th in the nation. Clifton and the Bears line allowed just 18 sacks in 14 games, best in the league.

Off the field, Clifton earned the SAC Elite 20 award which is given to the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average in each of the league's 20 team championship sports. Clifton's 3.88 GPA earned him First Team Academic All-Region honors which made him eligible for All-American consideration.
