The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team stumbled in a road match against a much-improved Newberry squad by a final score of 3-0 on Tuesday evening. The loss was LR's third straight blemish.
The Bears were led sophomore Taylor Prall who recorded 14 kills, the most for Prall in a match since recording 17 against Francis Marion on Sept. 8. Angelica Arroyo added eight kills while Madison Asher and Hannah Houston each tallied five.
Defensively, Hamilton and Ashley Hawkins had 11 digs and Arroyo added 10. Arroyo and Braelyn Faust each had two blocks.
Toni-Anne Whitlow led the hosts with 11 kills and Lacie Wood had eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage.
This was a rematch of a September 4 contest that saw the Bears come away with a 3-0 victory.
In the ultra-competitive SAC, the loss dropped LR from fourth place to sixth place in the league standings.
The Bears are 12-6 overall and 6-5 in the South Atlantic Conference. LR returns home on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match against Coker as the Bears look to end its three-game losing skid.
