The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball program is ranked 16th in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association DII Tachikara Rankings, which were released on Tuesday.
The Red Hawks, who are 17-7 overall on the season, have won 13 of their past 14 matches, including a victory against sixth-ranked Pasco-Hernando State College during this past weekend's Valley Invitational held in Hickory, N.C.
"It’s great to be back in the polls," said CVCC head volleyball coach Shannon Hudson. "Our team is learning and growing together, and their play is definitely improving. I think the latest poll is an exciting acknowledgment of how their work has paid off. I am so proud of all they have accomplished so far this season, and I’m looking forward to finishing strong."
The 16th-ranked CVCC women's volleyball team returns to action this Thursday with a road non-conference match against Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tenn. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
The Red Hawks travel the next day to Hanceville, Ala. to compete in the Wallace State Fall Bash — a two-day tournament where they will face four D-I teams, including Spartanburg Methodist, Coastal Alabama - Bay Minette, Monroe College and host Wallace State.
