The Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team fell in three sets to preseason South Atlantic Conference favorite Wingate on Thursday evening by the score of 3-0. The game was originally scheduled to take place on Friday evening but was rescheduled due to the upcoming weather conditions.
For the second straight match, Hannah Houston led the Bears in kills. The junior finished the game with seven kills and added three blocks and nine digs.
Sophomore Madison Asher had a strong match for LR, finishing with six kills and a team-high .300 hitting percentage.
Wingate held a .319 to .064 edge in hitting percentage in the contest and a 62-39 advantage in digs.
The Bulldogs were led by 10 kills from Hannah Givens.
Wingate is on a 10 game winning streak to start the 2018 season. The Bulldogs were picked to finish first in the SAC preseason coaches poll.
The Bulldogs hit .500 as a team in the first set.
After winning seven straight to open the season, LR has dropped three straight.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they continue SAC play at Mars Hill.
