Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Rachel Elmore and Ines Flueck have been named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, league officials announced earlier today.
Both players led the Bears (2-4, 2-0) to a 1-1 week including a 15-8 victory over Wingate in a league contest Saturday on the road. LR lost a tough, 15-13 game to No. 17 Mercyhurst last Thursday at Moretz Stadium.
Elmore, a junior midfielder from White Plains, Md., scored 13 goals to go along with 16 draw controls for the week including a seven-goal performance against the Bulldogs. Elmore, a second-team preseason all-league honoree, currently leads the team in goals scored with 19.
Flueck, a senior goalkeeper from Coppell, Texas, finished the week with 21 saves, a .477 save percentage and six ground balls including 11 stops against the Bulldogs. Flueck is a 2016 NCAA Division II Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-SAC honoree who currently has a 11.57 goals-against average and 45 saves this spring. Flueck is the Bears’ all-time leader in saves with 503.
Lenoir-Rhyne hits the road to take on No. 18 Tampa (5-2) on Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., beginning at 5:00 p.m.
