Stellar singles play for Appalachian State University men's tennis (6-2) played a pivotal role in a 4-2 win over Xavier on Sunday afternoon at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.

The Mountaineers bounced back in a big way finishing 2-0 this weekend with the wins over Eastern Kentucky and the Musketeers.

After showcasing dominant play in doubles play all season long, the Apps turned towards their singles performance to come back. Xavier took a 1-0 lead after capturing two of three doubles matches. Scott Webster and Milo Bargeron fell to Gabriel Araujo/Jack Dykema, 6-4. The Musketeers claimed the doubles point after Alex Pavkovich, and Ben Webster suffered a 6-4 decision to Connor LaFavre/ Brett Winters.

Appalachian kicked it into gear in singles when Scott Webster notched a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Dykema in a matchup between No. 1s. Following Pavkovich's 6-2, 6-3, setback to Araujo, Ben tied up the math with a come-from-behind three-set triumph as the No. 2 in the lineup. Webster claimed the second and third frames en route to the win over Winters, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Bargeron bounced back to give App the 3-2 lead over Vrba, 6-3, 7-5, and Cambell Stone earned the clinching point with a hard-fought Lafavrel in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.

Appalachian will look for a second win streak of at least three matches it faces Elon on the road this Saturday at 1 p.m.
