Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Jens Roessler has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s Soccer NCAA Division II First Team for District III. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America. District III consists of Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt Conference and the South Atlantic Conference.

Roessler, a senior defender from Ettlingen, GERMANY, led the Bears to a 10-4-3 record (6-2-2 in the South Atlantic Conference), a second-place tie in the league regular standings and a berth in the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second straight year.

Roessler, who played in all 17 matches with 16 starts, helped anchor a Bears’ defense which limited their opponents to just 18 goals in 17 matches, a 1.01 goals-against average and seven shutouts. Roessler, a two-year starter, has a 3.97 grade point average and is on the entrepreneurship track as part of the MBA program at Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 D-II and D-III Academic All-America® teams program.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
