Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Xzavion Huff has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week, league officials announced today.
Huff, a freshman running back from Maiden, N.C., returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in the Bears’ 24-20 setback to Catawba in the regular season finale last Saturday on the road.
Huff led the team in kickoff returns this year – 423 yards on 17 returns for a 24.9-yard average – and finished second on the squad in rushing (227 yards) with two scores.
In addition, Huff was named the Southside Power & Fitness Ronnie Lott Heavy Hitter winner for the Indians' game. Huff wins the honor for the first time in his collegiate career.
Southside Power and Fitness will make a contribution to Habitat for Humanity in the honor of Huff as this week's winner of the Heavy Hitter Award.
