Noah Haney from Hibriten High School has been named one of two recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.
Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition, one male and one female, are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.
Haney, a senior on the Hibriten football squad, was a defensive game changer for the Panthers against cross-county rival, South Caldwell. He racked up seven solo tackles, including six tackles for loss, adding two sacks and two forced fumbles. He also recovered two fumbles, returning one of those recoveries for touchdown. The defensive lineman now has two turnover returns for a score on the season and also serves as the team’s kicker. He was six for seven on the night converting point after attempts and booted two touchbacks on kickoffs on the night.
Weekly recipients will be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in late April.
