Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball 2017-2018 Schedule Released

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men’s Basketball Team has officially released its 2017-18 schedule, Head Coach Everick Sullivan announced today.

“This is one of the most challenging schedules that Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Basketball has faced in some years, both in and out of conference play,” said Sullivan, who is entering his second year as Bears’ mentor.

The Bears open the season with the South Atlantic Conference/Peach Belt Challenge in Pembroke, N.C., and will face UNC Pembroke (Friday, November 10, at 3:00 p.m.) and Francis Marion (Saturday, November 11, at 5:00 p.m.). The Braves (24-8) won the PBC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Lenoir-Rhyne faces King in a home-and-home series and will host Limestone in a key regional contest on Saturday, November 25, at 4:00 p.m. The Saints (27-6), last year’s Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Champions, also earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.

The Bears (10-17 overall, 9-13 in the league) will also host Belmont Abbey on Wednesday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m., to round out the non-conference portion of their schedule.

“Our goal is to prepare our team for a tough, non-conference schedule and an ultra-competitive South Atlantic Conference. We must get better throughout the preseason and season with the goal of playing our best basketball heading into the month of February. We want our players and our team to progress toward postseason play and we think this schedule will allow us to accomplish our goal,” added Sullivan.

Speaking of the South Atlantic Conference, Lenoir-Rhyne will face three schools twice – Lincoln Memorial (30-5), Queens (30-4) and Wingate (20-11) – who all earned berths to the national postseason tournament.

The Railsplitters advanced to the national semifinals while the Royals hosted the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. Both LMU and Queens finished the 2016-17 season ranked No. 15 and No. 6 in the nation, respectively. The Bears host the Royals for Senior Night for the second straight year on Wednesday, February 21, at 8:00 p.m.
