Leody Taveras had two hits and scored two runs, and Christian Torres allowed just one hit over six innings as the Hickory Crawdads defeated the Columbia Fireflies 5-0 on Thursday.
Torres (3-2) picked up the win after he struck out three.
Up 1-0 in the fifth, Hickory added to its lead when Blaine Prescott and Alex Kowalczyk hit RBI singles.
The Crawdads later tacked on a run in both the seventh and ninth innings. In the seventh, Charles Leblanc hit an RBI single, while Kowalczyk hit an RBI single in the ninth.
Colin Holderman (1-3) went 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and five hits in the South Atlantic League game. He also struck out two and walked three.
The Fireflies were blanked for the 10th time this season, while the Crawdads' staff recorded their seventh shutout of the year.
Hickory improved to 6-2 against Columbia this season.
