Bobby Dalbec hit a grand slam in the seventh inning, and Darwinzon Hernandez tossed five scoreless innings as the Greenville Drive topped the Hickory Crawdads 7-4 on Saturday.
Hickory had runners on first and second in the top of the ninth, but Leody Taveras grounded out to end the game.
The grand slam by Dalbec scored Santiago Espinal, Tyler Hill, and Roldani Baldwin to give the Drive a 7-3 lead.
In the top of the ninth, Hickory cut into the lead on a single by Charles Leblanc that scored Anderson Tejeda.
Hernandez allowed three hits while striking out five.
Matthew Gorst (5-3) got the win in relief while Joseph Kuzia (1-1) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.
Greenville improved to 3-1 against Hickory this season.
