Manuel Melendez tripled and singled twice as the Asheville Tourists defeated the Hickory Crawdads 8-4 on Wednesday.
Asheville started the scoring in the second inning when Jacob Bosiokovic hit a two-run triple.
Trailing 5-1, the Crawdads cut into the deficit with three runs in the fourth inning, including a solo home run by Alex Kowalczyk.
The Tourists later added a run in the fourth and two in the eighth. In the fourth, Melendez hit an RBI single, while Bosiokovic and Willie Abreu both drove in a run in the eighth.
Asheville right-hander Antonio Santos (5-8) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing four runs on eight hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Edgar Arredondo (5-4) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game after allowing six runs and eight hits over six innings.
With the win, Asheville improved to 4-1 against Hickory this season.
The Crawdads drop to 12-8 on the second half of the season. Hickory is at Asheville again tomorrow.
