The Lander Baseball Team (19-25) picked up a 7-1 win over Lenoir-Rhyne (21-23) Wednesday evening at Dolny Stadium.
The Bearcats, who avenged an earlier loss to the Bears, were led by Carson Jones (Asheville, N.C.) with a three-run home run and four runs batted in.
Lander took control with three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings while Jones' round-tripper came in the fifth frame. Mason Dodd (Augusta, Ga.) also drove in three runs for the Bearcats, who snapped a four-game losing streak.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior outfielder Marcus Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.) drove in the Bears' lone run in the fifth inning. The Bears, however, suffered their fourth straight setback.
On the mound, Tripper Ergle (Blythewood, S.C.) (1-3) pitched four innings in relief to pick up his first win of the year while Lenoir-Rhyne junior Matt Sullivan (Bristol, Va.) (1-2) was tagged with the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns to South Atlantic Conference play this Friday against Newberry on the road beginning at 6:00 p.m., in Newberry, S.C.
