Lenoir-Rhyne University's Kevin Baxter and Brooke Robinson were named the South Atlantic Conference Men's and Women's Track Athletes Of The Week, respectively.
Baxter, a sophomore from Columbia, S.C., finished first in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a wind-aided time of 13.81 seconds last Saturday at the VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, N.C.
The time is the best in the NCAA Division II so far this spring and automatically qualifies Baxter for the Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on May 22-24 in Allendale, Mich.
Baxter, who earned a spot in the national finals for the second straight year, ran a school-record 14.02 in the preliminaries.
Robinson, a freshman from Newton, N.C., earned weekly league accolades for the second time this year.
Robinson broke the school record with her first-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash (56.70) last week in the VertKlasse Meeting as well.
Robinson also finished second in the women's 200-meter dash (a school-record 25.57) and was part of two relay teams - 400-meter (49.46) and 1,600-meter (4:14.30) - which established new program marks as well.
Carson-Newman's Cassadine Blassingame and Queens' Shelby Kennard were named the South Atlantic Conference Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the week, respectively.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams next compete in Western Carolina's Beynon Catamount Classic on Friday and Saturday in Cullowhee, N.C.
